Grand Plan

Grand Plan

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” (Romans 5:19).

When God created Adam, he existed in a state of innocence, knowing only good because everything God created was good (Genesis 1:31). God entrusted Adam with authority over His creation, effectively making him the steward of this world. Along with this authority, God gave Adam specific instructions, notably not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which stood in the midst of the garden.

God clearly warned Adam of the consequences: “…for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17). Despite this warning, Adam disobeyed God and ate from the forbidden tree. This act of disobedience constituted treason against God, and as a result, Adam forfeited his authority to Satan, who then became the god of this world.

But God, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, had a plan for redemption. He sent another Adam—the second and last Adam—Jesus Christ: “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:45, 47). As we read in our opening scripture, the Lord Jesus Christ, through His perfect obedience and sacrificial death on the cross, restored the broken relationship between God and humanity.

Jesus’ obedience countered Adam’s disobedience, offering justification and eternal life to all who believe in Him. Through Jesus Christ, God’s plan for redemption and righteousness was fulfilled. No wonder He declared in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He is our eternal salvation. Hallelujah!

On the cross, Jesus paid for our freedom. But freedom from what? Freedom from everything under the curse—fear, oppression, sickness, disease, lack, poverty, anxiety, addiction, and death, to name a few. In essence, everything opposite to THE BLESSING falls under the curse. It’s everything from the enemy, everything that entered this world when sin crept into the Garden of Eden.

However, THE BLESSING won’t automatically manifest in our lives. While freedom is a gift, we must actively receive it through faith. Jesus taught, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32, NKJV). What is this truth? It’s the Gospel of Grace or the Word of Grace.
